The Bottom Line:
I absolutely cannot recommend this television to anyone for the obvious reason mentioned above.
I purchased this television 2 1/2 years ago. Here was my experience: The first television that was delivered didn't even work...neither did the second one. The third one worked for 2 1/2 years (and during that time it was amazing- great picture, great sound, etc.). Then it exploded...not once, not twice but three times. The fist time, I was watching TV, heard a loud pop, then lost the picture (I could hear the sound, but no picture). One month later, it was fixed. 3 hours after it was fixed, the TV was off and it exploded again. One month later it was fixed. This morning I was cooking breakfast in my kitchen, heard a loud pop (the tv was off), smelled burning plastic, and guess what...it exploded again. I don't want you to have to go through the same nightmare that I have gone through. I do have to note that, even though Toshiba has done nothing to solve this issue, Boscov's (which is the store where we bought the tv) is finally going to replace the television (hopefully with a different brand).
P.S. Just in case you were wondering, we had an electrician come out and check our outlets to make sure that the electricity wasn't to blame..even though we had the TV plugged into a surge protector...and it wasn't.
