Mitsubishi Diamond, Sony XBR and Pioneer Elite...You have "unwanted" company..

Pros Touch focus, excellent picture, great price
Cons Have to go into menu to choose picture size.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  For those who are ready to make the jump to HDTV and have already had sticker shock, the Toshiba 57HX81 is well worth a look.
Pioneer PRO520HD, Sony 57XBR2, and Mitsubishi WS55909 look out. Someone is definitely invading your turf and flying in your airspace.

It's the Toshiba 57HX81 and its wreaking havoc in many ways. First of all, it has one of the best, (if not the best) picture of any HD set right out of the box, ala "Touch Focus". The menu system is so animated and flawless that my 5 year old daughter could operate it. The picture has incredible depth on all sources, including DVD and digital cable. But when it comes to a 1080i signal...Boy oh boy! Look what just got unleashed. And let's not forget the most important thing to customers that are just getting into the HDTV market; Price point. (half the price of either of the Big 3)

This set is exceptional in all aspects. It is lightweight, has a sleek design, and the remote control is a breeze. It has a Dolby Digital output that makes it easy to connect to a Digital receiver.

Many customers are finding that even though they have worked up the courage to buy an HDTV, they are still hit with the fact that they need the converter box which is another $600-1000 bucks. You can get around buying the converter box by buying an integrated (box built-in) set. Then there goes another $1000 bucks, not to mention that the box will only receive terrestial (ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC) channels. That being said, let me tell you, the Toshiba is the best set that I have seen on regular TV or satellite due to its internal line doubler.

I work for a reputable electronics dealer and the Sony, Pioneer and Mits are our top selling sets only because we rarely keep Toshiba TV's on the floor. Whenever I am close to finalizing a sale, and price objections hinder my close, I go to the back of the store, open a fresh Toshiba 57HX81 and plug it up right beside the BIG 3 and you should see my manager cringe. He knows that two things are about to happen. His pocket will be hit as a store manager because I am about to sell a cheaper set, and the customer that is going to buy the set is going to be so happy that they are going to blurt out the news to their friends and neighbors...Tooo Baddd, Manager..

Its the easiest sale that I can make. I can easily sell 4 of this set to every one of the Big 3 TV sets because of price, value, and picture quality. The Toshiba ran circles around the top-of-the line Pioneer and it "eclisped" (excuse the pun); the Mitsubishi Diamond.

Without a doubt, Mitsubishi, Sony, and Pioneer are losing their shirt in battle with the 57HX81 in terms of price and performance. This is my reason for purchasing one.

One piece of advice to the big three; have someone sneak
into the Toshiba factory and see what magic smoke they are putting into their HD sets, and by the way, your work is soooo cut out for you.
