Best Value in Big Screens

Pros High contrast; excellent color fidelity without bleeding; digital convergence.
Cons Takes up lots of space.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  If you can find one for less than $1500, go for it.
I can't tell you how many big screen and front screen projection systems I sold and installed in twenty five years, and I always had them in my showroom, but until a few months ago I never owned one at home. Our decision was based on value - the best and largest picture for the money. I decided early that I did not want to spend the extra money for digital or widescreen, that the picture quality of analog combined with my Direct TV receiver would give me all the quality I cared about. In addition, I watch a lot of sports and the sports news channels and widescreen doesn't handle these images well, in my opinion. I am much less concerned about occasional horizontal black or gray bars on a 4:3 set when watching a widescreen movie, than I am with constant vertical bars when watching standard television on a widescreen set. We also wanted BIG! Not just 36 or 45 inches, but BIG! My wife and I don't have great eyesight anymore, and, especially when viewing the Direct TV Menu, we couldn't see what we were looking at on our 32 inch set. So we opted for a 61 inch set and we couldn't be happier. One of us comments regularly how happy we are with this set. A very important part of any projection set is convergence. I have converged hundreds of televisions, and this is the easiest I have ever worked with. It takes less than five minutes with the remote control to make the picture perfect, and I am serious when I say perfect. I am very fussy when it comes to my television picture. I want it natural, not hyped up super natural, like most sets I've seen in stores or people's homes, and this set is fantastic. I will also share with you that the wholesale price of this set at a distributor is less than $1400. I purchased mine as a store demo for $1000. That has to rank as one of the best deals I have ever made in my life. You will love this set!
