Great unit if you get a defect-free one

The Bottom Line:
Very good unit for a very good price. When you get a defect-free unit, it performs flawlessly. I gambled and won.
I bought this unit for $1999. and took delivery on December 5th, 2002. The first unit was immediately returned because of a convergence problem -- the green lens seemingly got knocked out of whack.
The second unit, delivered the next day, worked beautifully except for one small flaw. It would occasionally shut itself off and then turn itself back on. (This happened about 6 times in 8 days so I decided to asked for another unit. I was later told that the 65HD81 had the same "popping off" problem, only those units did not turn themselves back on.) Anyway, they delivered a third on January 2, 2003. And it has worked fine.
The projection TV is a fantastic unit with great color and clarity. One of the main criticisms about projection tvs is that people sitting off-center cannot see the screen. That is not a problem with this unit. Everything is also easy to use: Big remote with big buttons. About the only complaint, a minor one, is that this TV does not provide many convergence points (9 only) to further fine-tune the TV. I don't know if it has hampered performance much, but the persnickety side of me sometimes likes to over-tinker (which is why I am sure they left it out).
January 04 update: After year of viewing, we are extremely pleased with the product. It has performed flawlessly and the picture does not seem to be degrading at all, even with the set being used as much as 8 hours a day, sometimes more.(All projection tubes wear out over time.)
My initial concerns about the product has been dispelled. I still see the unit being sold, sometimes as low as $1799. At around price, I would still highly recommend it.
