The Bottom Line:  If you want a widescreen TV to use when 16:9 becomes the norm, look into the 65hdx82. Watching DVDs is a thrill and normal TV viewing is just as nice.
I had to move the entertainment center I was using to the bedroom to make room for this giant 65", 16:9 RPTV monster. It is a very thin unit, although not as thin as a Plasma, and didn't take up any more space than before. I just had to move the rest of the equipment to the side.

The on-screen setup guide helps letting you know how to get going for normal TV viewing. The panel on the back is clearly labeled for DVD, Component, or DVI inputs. It also has two jacks to hook up surround sound output.

With a 160 degree viewing angle, I can see the screen from anywhere in my Great room. Standing up does blur the image, and sitting dead center is the best option.

The remote is limited, and when using the light feature, makes a buzzing sound. It is a universal remote, but only offers limited capability for other units. For those that like using just one remote, you'll need to find another.

I haven't had a chance to check out HDTV on the unit yet, but Anamorphic DVD looks awesome, especially at night with all the lights turned off. The screen seems to float because of the size.

I also looked at the Mitsubishi and Pioneer Elite models, but for almost 800 less, the Toshiba is the clear winner.
