The Bottom Line:
Great picture, great sound, great inputs... BUY IT!!! You'll Love it.
When I first went shopping for a new TV my mind set was that I would buy a Sony. I knew Sony was famous for its high quality picture and figured if I was going to fork over a big chunk of cash for a new TV I would want something I would be happy watching for a long time. Then I saw the new line of Toshiba wide screens and was blown away by the quality of picture at a considerably cheaper price than a comparable Sony.
The wide screen is definitely the way of the future with many of the new shows (ER, West Wing) already being filmed in this format. The format enhances DVD's with the wide screen viewing area larger than that on a 36 inch conventional tube.
I haven't hooked up my home theater system as I'm waiting for my new receiver but the built in speakers are considerably better than I had expected.
The back of the TV has inputs galore, including two sets of Toshiba's Colorstream for your DVD player and HDTV.
The only minor complaint is the remote. It is well laid out, has back lit buttons, and is completely functional, but for such a cool looking TV it is a bit of a let down. As well I find switching between devices is a bit finicky, and have thus been using the remote strictly for TV control with the addition of the separate DVD remote.
The only other recommendation I would make is to purchase the stand for this TV. It looks great and since its built specifically for this TV it is a rock solid base, with special divits and a clip to hold the TV in place.
I would highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a high quality TV at a competitive price.
