Toshiba has had a strong, positive, reputation in many home theater magazines for offering a super picture...Because of this,I purchased this model..Out of the box I noticed the factory setting were way to high,(common in all TVs)..So,I simply put in Video Essentials test DVD and went to work....After these adjustments,even the most finicky videophile would be hard pressed to fault the picture..Toshiba offers three temp settings,and cool is almost dead on as recommened by the experts..Even the theater mode is great for many cable and DVD watching..Of course your best results will come through the component inputs,or S video..As for the audio quality, the unit offers exceptable performance for general viewing,(news,sports,sitcoms),however serious audio-videophiles will have the TV hooked up to a home theater reciever..TV Tube technology today really offers outstanding performance,or the best that the standard NTSC format allows..Those not wanting to dish out the big bucks for HDTV will be more than pleased with this unit..PLEASE use a proper set up DVD to get the best out this TV,and avoid using the Factory mode for anything!High contrast settings shorten the life of any TV..!
