This is the first recorder I have used. After looking through many reviews online, I decided on this Toshiba as it seemed to have more features for a lower price.
I started backing up all of my VHS tapes to DVD-R. Man, this thing is awesome! The VHS actually comes out better on the recorded DVD!!! I have used ProDisc DVD-R 4x discs solely and have not burned one bad one yet in 15 burns!
There are several input connections on the machine and I have my VCR connected to one and another DVD player to another with more still one more set still available. I am also running through my cablebox and prefer it that way being I use the recorder mainly for dubbing and an occasional tv record. There is a IR tv channel switcher in the box that enables you to use the DVD recorder as your main unit. The remote is also designed as an all purpose remote.
There are just so many settings available that one can do just about anything with this machine! It is truely unbelievable for the price! Do not hesitate on this one!
