Ok recorder but has some serious limitations
I bought this unit to replace my VCR and improve the quality of recordings over VCR and convert my VCR tapes to digital so they don't degrade any more than they already have. Could be a hit or miss product?
This DVD recorder has several attractive features: DVD-RAM with "timeslip" gives you a TIVO(R)-type recording/playback capability for TV shows, rapid recording of camcorder videos to DVDs, and can be used to transfer outdated VHS tapes to DVD.

This machine has everything you need and the price was right.However you need to be an electronics Geek to operate this thing. The operator's manual is about 150 pages long and I found it very confusing. I have had the D-R2 about two months and still can't get the programmed recorder to work.

Must Have gotten a bad one
I must have gotten a defective unit. After a week or 2 the unit wouldn't play back any of my recorded DVD-R's, even the ones that it recorded itself.
