Fast and Silent
Pros
Quality Picture & Sound, ease of operation, fast Fwd and Rew. Silent running
Cons
On Screen Channel Display, delay in sound heads accessing sound tracks, does not have features as stated on Printed Material(Box)
Recommended it?
Yes
I purchased the M675 Toshiba VCR because of the good name and background of Toshiba in the Electronic Industry and the price was right for the features that were available on M675. I presently have 4 VCRs and a DVD
player and I record about 8 hours of viewing each night.
I've used this VCR for about a week and have had excellent performance with regards to recording and playback. The M675 excels in reproducing
prerecorded Movies, it truly is a "Movie Lovers" VCR. In its new state, it rivals the DVD for picture clarity and sound reproduction(depending on the "rented media" quality. When used with a home theater setup the center speaker channel is much improved over some other VCRs.
It is simple to use, quite operation and fast FF & REW functions, about 90 seconds for rewind on a 120 minute tape. I would recommend this model to anyone desiring a low cost second VCR. It has an excellent Remote Control, easy to program for MANY TVs and easy to use and understand.
There are some things that I do not like about this particular unit.
The box that the M675 is packed and shipped in from Toshiba states that this model has Indexing and Segment Marking for fast location of your recorded programs, IT DOES NOT HAVE THIS FEATURE and never will. Perhaps
a little wishful thinking from Toshiba Marketing, the Service Center said it was all a mistake and none of their models have this feature.
There is excessive delay in the sound track starting when play is resumed from "paused" or from "rev" to play or "que" to play. You must restart play a few frames early to retrieve the sound track where you desire.
The "On screen" display of the channel number can only be selected as on or off. Most VCRs will display the channel number monetarily when the channel up or down is selected. On this model the number is displayed continuously or off at all times, this depends on the setting of the "On Screen Display"
Even with these negatives I would still recommend it to anyone.
