The Bottom Line: One of the best TVs you can get for what you're getting. By now tube TVs should be mastered, and with this model it looks like Toshiba has done it.

It was finally time to replace the old TV - a 1995 20" Toshiba. I was limited both in space and funds, but I naturally still went shopping for the largest allowable screen with the sharpest picture for the cheapest price. After doing several days of research on the web, it seemed that Sony would be the best, but indeed, their prices were higher than I was willing to pay. Several sources claimed both Toshiba and Panasonic had comparable picture quality to Sony, but at a cheaper price. I went shopping at a Rex electronics store and came across the Toshiba MD24F51. It was 26" wide and would just barely fit into our cabinet. Its 24" (diagonal) flat screen was a nice improvement too. The picture was crystal clear, sharp, and vividly colorful. We took it home for $300.

For the size, price, and for it being a conventional tube TV, I couldn't be more happy with my decision. Both the picture and the sound are simply wonderful. Set up could not have been easier. The built-in DVD player is very convenient and movies look great! Hooking up my PS2 is a snap with the front input hook ups (which can be covered when not in use). The remote is fairly straight forward. I also like the "game" button that's designed for gaming consoles.

If you're looking for a smaller sized conventional TV with a great picture and a reasonable price, this is the one!
