I got this TV/VCR combo for Christmas, and it's been the best TV in the house since. Sure we have bigger ones, but this one has the best picture quality in the home. Some people might not appreciate the picture you get with a flat screen, but being an entertainment junkie like I am, I live for those little differences.
This TV was easy to install, and was working in no time. The instructions are very clear and explain the features perfectly. VCR is simple to play tapes with, however recording is a little more difficult. It's still not impossible to set the timer, but it's not as easy as with the other VCRs I've tried. I personally prefer a separate VCR, mostly because I know how to work those. Still, this VCR works perfectly fine and will just take some time for me to get used to.
Anyways, I combined this television with now a total of 3 DVD players, and all were extremely easy to set up. The picture quality of this player is show at it's full potential when combined with a good DVD player. In fact, you can clearly see a quality jump when you go from cable or video to DVD. This TV was made for DVD.
The sound on this system is an upgrade from my previous TV, mostly because that one was mono and this is a stereo set. Since it's in a small room, the stereo effect is easily heard, although I don't think it would be as noticeable in a larger room. Also, there are connections on the back of the set to send the sound to another source, so if you wanted you could bypass the stereo speakers all together. I have never tried using the audio out part of the set, so I can't really rate the quality or anything about it.
The remote on the system is nice and easy. Setting things up (like color, tint, time, etc.) requires only 4 buttons, all clearly labeled. The play, stop, rewind, and forward buttons are the largest, and all glow in the dark. The only complain about the remote is a minor one, and it's the fact that the channel and volume buttons are the same as the rest of them. In the dark, they are not always easy to locate. This is minor, but still should be mentioned.
There is only one other complaint about this set, and that is the lack of an S-Video outlet. I have been told DVD looks better with the use of an S-Video cable, but have yet been able to try it out for myself. Companies? usually only put an S-Video plug on 27 inch or larger TVs, but I think they should become standard on all sets.
Overall, this is an excellent television. The picture is perfect (especially with DVD), and it's not difficult at all to set up or control (except the timer recording for the VCR.). If anyone is looking for a new television, I recommend any flat screen, especially this one.
