Nice picture, lacks key DVD capability

Pros Great picture, convenient VHS/DVD built-in.
Cons Doesn't play video DVD-R's made on computer!
Recommended it? No
The Bottom Line:  If you buy this, realize you're buying something that is already out-of-date technology-wise and may disappoint dearly down the road if you need to play video DVD-R's.
I bought this for our master bedroom from the local big-box electronics merchandiser. We were very happy with the picture and the fact that you could play tapes and DVD's without having multiple devices stacked on our dresser. It looks OK, if you like the high-tech look. The sound is good, nothing special. It has extra input connects for attaching other devices. You might be asking yourself, "why would I need extra input connectors when it already has a DVD player built in"? I wondered the same thing when I saw them, but NOW I actually have a need for them, because this TV's DVD player lacks a key technology: it will not play video DVD's (DVD-R) made on your computer. It is difficult to buy a DVD these days that does not have this capability (the three others in my house, including my Playstation II will all play them) and I was shocked to find that this device, which seemed so "high tech" lacked what is now virtually a standard DVD feature! I use DVD-R's for all my home video storage now (tape is dead, switch to DVD NOW or you'll have a lot of worthless plastic sitting around in five years), so this was very disappointing, but now I'll get to use those extra inputs -- for hooking up ANOTHER DVD player (the el-cheapo Apex at Walmart for $60 will play DVD-R'S!). So much for the built-in DVD convenience and Toshiba "technology".
