Mixed Blessings
Pros
Great Picture, Good dollar Value, HDMI with 1080i 720p
Cons
Dated Design, Gets Hot, Lacks Traditional Toshiba solid feel. AWFUL remote design.
Recommended it?
Yes
To start with, I had to return the first one I bought, that in itself, is nothing unusal these days. But the second is prone to overheating and freezing up. After on for extended periods.
Still it has an Excellent Picture. Cheapest of HDMI UPconvert players and comes with a HDMI cable. When tested on a 60" Hitachi and a 50" Sony both LCD, and a Sanyo 30" HDTV traditional tube with a widescreen, it plays about everything tried, can not think of an expception.
The quality of the picture is almost as good as the Samsung HD841, and minus the fact if you watch more than a couple of DVDs this player gets very warm, it is the bargain of all my UPconvert players.
The remote is SO poor I am speechless on that, just take a look at one.
Overall for the money, it is worth the purchase. I have heard the DVD VCR Toshiba UPconvert SD-V592 is better. I do not know.
The ONLY reason period, I gave this 4 STARS is the picture quality at 1080i. The player is just not all it could be, and from Toshiba I was suprised.
