Not happy with this DVD player!
Pros
Comes with HDMI cable.
Cons
Picture distortion on 720p and 1080i settings. Poor remote functioning and design.
Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
Not worth it!! The picture quality on the upconversion (720p and 1080i settings) is amazing, however, the picture is distorted, so I can't use it.
Initially, I was impressed with the picture quality. It did look very clear and sharp with the 720p and the 1080i settings. However, I realized that on those settings, the picture is distorted and stretched. When I tried to adjust it with my TV (Sony 55 in LCD grand wega KDF-55WF655), I am not given the options of adjusting the screen where it is not distorted. The only way I can get this DVD player to play undistorted with my TV is if I use the 480p setting on the DVD player, which defeats the purpose of buying a more expensive player with the supposed upconversion.
The response time of this player is poor. You have to press the remote multiple times before it responds. Even pressing the buttons on the machine itself will not give good results. I have to press the buttons multiple times before it works. The remote is poorly designed as well. This gets very annoying very quickly.
Furthermore, if you stop halfway through the movie and turn the machine off, it doesn't remember where you left off. It starts replaying from the beginning or you have to search to find where you left off.
Overall, this machine is more trouble than it's worth. And I can't even use the upconversion or clearer picture because of the stretch of the screen.
