The Bottom Line:
Find another brand!
I purchased the K770 at Costco for $40 as the price was excellent and I figured it would be okay for use with a 27" TV. I was disappointed in the features as well, e.g. the unit can't show the remaining play time on the disk, there is no screen saver if you put the unit on pause and get distracted (the frozen screen picture stays on the screen), and the player doesn't remember your place on the disk if you turn the unit off before you are done viewing the whole disk. While I could accept these shortcomings, the unit itself quickly broke down. Within a week the DVD picture was breaking up into pixels and the unit kept freezing up. Unplugging it seemed to correct the problem for an hour or so, but then it came back. For warranty repair the unit MUST be returned to Toshiba at your cost ($12-15) which is not reimbursable. They shipped me a new unit which, like the first, ran for about a week and then started to have more freezing problems. I certainly will not invest another $12 in postage to get back another crappy Toshiba unit. I will find another brand!
