Toshiba SD-P1700 7 in. Portable DVD Player

I am such a loser. Always losing things, especially important things like chargers, adapters, and the like. My son has inherited this gene, and so, it comes to no surprise that I am constantly replacing things. My boys each have a Coby dvd player, but my youngest sons broke (very cheap, never buy a Coby) and my oldest son lost all of the things that enable the poor thing to work. Not that it isn't SOMEWHERE in his room,or around the house, they are probably entangled with the Christmas lights or the last three chargers from the last three cell phones that we are no longer using. It is hard letting go of the "Where's Waldo" part of motherhood, and dedicating myself to tracking down things that are misplaced, but I need a break someone in there!

WHY TOSHIBA?

Ok. Back to the story. My son lost the cords, so I let him borrow mom & dad's, a much nicer TOSHIBA until he can find his own. This Toshiba is the SD-P1700 model that is slightly more expensive, more crisper sound, much sharper visual portable dvd player. The dvd player is widescreen format, and allows you to zoom in on the the movie so that you don't have to watched the scaled down version that has the black bars of widescreen on the top and the bottom of the screen. It has a beautiful 7 inch screen on a clamshell player, that looks crystal clear with it's LCD technology. It is very bright, and adjusts well as you tilt it according to where you are sitting and watching it. It weighs only 1.67 pounds and is lightweight and easy to tote around with you. It is fast, when you turn it on or off, when you put the disk into the machine, there are no delays or interuptions. It lets you watch Dvds, DVD-R, Video CD, DIVX disks, plays music cds, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 & WMA Cds, as well as allows you to watch disks with JPEG digital photos and comes with a memory card to store them The memory cards are compatible with the Memory Stick, D-Picture Card, SD and Multi Media Cards. It is smaller version of an HDTV with all of the extras. That is one of my favorite features. We have several photos stored on our computer, but it is nice to have them with us when we are out visiting family and we have the dvd player with us. There is a 4 hour lithium battery that you can opt to use too.

This comes with a remote control that is very easy to use, an AC adapter and cigarette lighter car adapter as well, if you want to take this with you on a road trip, the way that we do. The sound is awesome! It has it's own built in speakers that have 3-D virtual surround sound, and comes with handy headphone jacks for privacy. It has 1 audio/video input and 1 audio/video output. There is also an optical output that is digital and is an output for Dolby Digital, DTS and PCM. The D/A video converter is 108 MHZ, 14 bit and a 192 KHZ - 24 bit audio D/A? converter.

The overall size of this is 7 1/2 inches wide, 1 3/16 inches in height and 5 7/8 inches deep. The warranty was only for 1 year and only 90 days for labor.

On a personal experience note, we have never had a problem with this machine. The buttons work great, everything is in perfect order, the sound and visual is unmatched. It is easy for anyone to use and the quality is consistant. This is great for road trips, camping, vacations, airplane flights, sleepovers, if the power goes out and you are bored, or if everyone else is watching the other tvs and you want to watch something else!
