Toshiba SD-P1700 7 in. Portable DVD Player

This item was on sale at Best Buy and has a Brand name so I thought it was safe to purchase without doing any research first. How foolish of me; I'll go stand in the dunce corner now. The product worked great at 1st and I used it only when I traveled out of town. Came in handy during long car & train rides. Watched about 10 movies over the past year before the "no valid disc" error appeared. I tried several discs, even the ones that previously worked, without success. Toshiba customer service offered to repair the item at about the same price I paid for it. When I told the representative I was disappointed my player broke and I barely watched a dozen movies he said underuse was the problem. Apparently moving parts get clogged up if it sits around too long. No worries...my money will stay clogged in my wallet because Toshiba will never get another dime. I'm also writing a letter to Best Buy to get their products pulled from the shelves.
