The Bottom Line:
Some Epinion members are obviously happy with Toshiba - I am not at all!
I had good experience with Toshiba products in the past. However, after playing only two DVDs my SD1700 quit working.
I put it in the shop over three months ago and it is still not fixed. The repair shop said the problem is the power supply and also said that Toshiba has had trouble procuring power supplies for the SD1700. Each month I check and it's the same old song - the power supply has not arrived yet.
I wrote Toshiba twice a detailed explanation of my problems and they wrote back saying only "call our 1-800 number with your problem. My feelings that Toshiba makes good products and provides good customer support has gone by the wayside.
I will not buy Toshiba again!
