Yes
The Bottom Line:
Buy this baby and you'll be treated to the most incredible viewing experience possible with today's DVD technology.
When the UPS driver made a face lifting the box this DVD player shipped in, I thought, "what a wimp!" Well, let me tell you that I made the same face when he handed it to me. This player is built like a war machine, ready to take on anything and everything!
The overall heft is not just the copper chassis but the consider craftsmanship which is visible the first time you turn it on. It's incredibly well-built and has many bells and whistles that I did not expect. My favorite is the drawer... It is hidden behind the slide-down display. Very cool!
The sound is warm and detailed. The image quality is the cleanest I have seen outside the studio; simply fantastic. No noise and very good detail.
As with any new device, I found one small problem. The progressive component output from this player is not compatible with my television (an RCA MM36100). To remedy this, I am now using a DVDO iScan PRO V3 Video Line Doubler which accepts the component output from the Toshiba and converts it into a VGA signal that my television can use. The resulting image is as film-like as I have every seen in home theatre. I got the iScan from quaturbo on eBay. (look him up and tell him I sent ya!) :-)
Ok, this is not a DVD player for everyone. It requires a considerable chunk of change to buy and you only really see the incredible quality if your home theatre system is capable of high quality to begin with. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! This is an awesome player that I am happy to show off to everyone.
