Disappointed
Pros
Sleek design. Excellent picture quality.
Cons
Failed to play a disc made from my LG DVD recorder.
Recommended it?
No
I've only had this for about a week or so.
The picture quality and menu features are excellent. The design is stylish and practical. Very nicely done.
The biggest problem I have is that it will not play DVD-Rs or DVD R/RWs out of my LG DVD recorder (I haven't tried DVD-RW but it probably won't work).
Funny thing: If I use my PC to burn a copy of something I recorded on my LG DVD recorder, the SD-P2600 will play it. It will even play a DVD+RW that is burned by a PC. There must something about the Toshiba that simply does not agree with the LG recorder's finalization process.
This is hugely disappointing because my 5 year old, no frills Sony DVD player will play DVDs straight from my LG.
This is troubling. Perhaps this otherwise excellent DVD may not be able to play any disc from any DVD recorder. If this is indeed the case, then it's a huge weakness for such an expensive device.
