The light, slender, Toshiba 2600 in May 04 enchanted our kids during our drive from Virginia to Florida, and back. The 2600 comes with everything in the box including a car adapter. The two headphone jacks give plenty of volume for the twin's headphones, which I bought separately.
*The 2600 has great color, a high pixel count, and controls on the unit--do not need the remote--like volume and fast-forward.
Unfortunately, the 2600 has some drawbacks. The car adapter cord is so short that going from the dash to the unit hanging off the front seats is a bit of stretch.
*Without the headphones, max volume is audible but not loud, while highway driving.
*The 2600 plays only about 30% of the DVDs while highway driving. In the house, however, the 2600 plays all ten of our children's DVDs except for a cheap Chinese copy of Lady and the Tramp, which works in my $75 non-portable DVD player.
*Disks spin loudly in the 2600. The volume must be set to about 3/4 max--without headphones--to overcome the sound of the spinning disk.
