Nice player
Pros
High end picture Very nice sound with 'night mode' Remote functional in every way
Cons
Toshiba needs a case for it. It just doesn't really fit the 3rd party cases.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I would highly recommend this player because it has an awesome picture and the controls and features are top notch!!
Purchased the 2600 for my wife based on the reviews of what we've read at various web sites. We did not get a chance to view the actual playing of the player but it looked good on the box and took Toshiba's quality from my projector TV to think the Cinema feature would match or surpass it.
When it came in the mail, I opened it, played a few of my wifes DVD's and then mine including The Matrix - Lobby scene. WOW!! Stunning picture!! Blew me away!! I tinkered with the sound because I found myself cranking it all the way up just to hear the center speaker vocals. I decided to try and use the 'night mode' audio (where all the channels are equally the same volume) and for that speaker layout (on the DVD player itself) was the perfect combo. I could lower the volume to half-way and found it perfect for its capability. I would likely change it if I connected it to external speakers to pick up the surround sound.
I found the rest of the features easy to work with and the remote was just what was wanted. Slim and functional in every way.
My wife has been practically glued to the player for a couple of days now and loves it beyond belief. She will actually watch her movies now! She has tried her headphones with the player and it really sound nice. Very sweet. She loves it.
