The Toshiba SD-P2600 Portable DVD Player is Sleek!

bysurferdude7 Jan 1, 2005

Pros A versatile player with a great picture.
Cons The sound of the built-in speakers need a little richer sound.
Recommended it? Yes

The Toshiba SD-P2600 portable DVD player plays almost all DVD and CD formats in a widescreen portable player. The player provides a parental-lock so you can set it up to protect what your children are watching. It can be connected to a TV for bigger viewing and digital Dolby or DTS sound. Not only... The light, slender, Toshiba 2600 in May 04 enchanted our kids during our drive from Virginia to Florida, and back. The 2600 comes with everything in the box including a car adapter. The two headphone jacks give plenty of volume for the twin's headphones, which I bought separately.

Pros Excellent picture quality, dual headphone jacks, price, screen size
Cons Needs a bit more volume when not using headphones, slightly difficult to open.

My first experience with a portable DVD was at an airport last year when I rented one during a long layover. I rented a good movie and before I knew it, it was time to board my flight. It took me a while but I finally broke down and decided to buy one for future trips and vacations.

No replacement parts and it breaks often

Pros It's pretty light and the battery is pretty good.
Cons No replacement parts means that if $10 power supply breaks, you have a $400 paperweight.

The A/C power adaptor in my unit just died for the second tmie since I bought this piece of junk.

The first time, it was under warrenty, but not it is not, so I have to buy a new adaptor, except....they don't exist (ya, the little thing between your wall A/C socket and the player...can't... Read full review »

Cons Toshiba needs a case for it. It just doesn't really fit the 3rd party cases.
Recommended it? Yes

Purchased the 2600 for my wife based on the reviews of what we've read at various web sites. We did not get a chance to view the actual playing of the player but it looked good on the box and took Toshiba's quality from my projector TV to think the Cinema feature would match or surpass it.

Pros Sleek design. Excellent picture quality.
Cons Failed to play a disc made from my LG DVD recorder.
Recommended it? No

I've only had this for about a week or so.

The picture quality and menu features are excellent. The design is stylish and practical. Very nicely done.

The biggest problem I have is that it will not play DVD-Rs or DVD R/RWs out of my LG DVD recorder (I haven't tried DVD-RW but it... Read full review »

I thought I would get more for the money

Pros Nice picture, nice looking unit
Cons jpg files very slow, power drains, no MP3 on DVD.
Recommended it? No

It's a nice looking unit with a decent picture. When I try to bring up a 1.5 MB jpg file on a CD or SD Card it takes about 25 second to fully load. This makes it impossible to share photos with people.
Also it seems to drain power from the battery when stored and shut off. I have to keep it... Read full review »
