The Bottom Line:
The LCD screen is not reliable in the two units I have owned. The main reason I bought it was for the LCD Screen.
I purchased the Toshiba SDP 1500 Portable DVD player in 12/01. After the 1st movie, I noticed blue pixels in the LCD screen. The retailer replaced the unit without a hassle. I hooked up the new unit to my t.v. and the picture was excellent. I did not use the units 8 inch LCD screen until 4/02. The unit played for approximately 5 minutes and then the screen went completely dark. No difference with the battery pack or with the AC plugin. I took it in for repair 5 days after the 90 day warranty expired. Toshiba refused to fix it under the warranty, even though the LCD screen went out on both units. It is in the repair shop now and I am looking at a $150.00 repair bill (assuming the estimate is correct).
