The Bottom Line:
Stay away from it. Maybe Toshiba's next model will be better.
I bought this unit after reading some enthusiastic comments from amazon site, but alas not to be. The unit looks good until you add the battery pack, and the whole thing become way too bulky for a nice portable device. All the reviewers and the paper specs pointed to a great picture, but I found it to be too harsh and not warm enough. The Panasonic DVD-LV70 has a much better image quality, even though pixel by pixel it might loose out. The most horrendous part though was the audio part. If you did not have the unit in the "dialog" mode the audio was barely audible. And can you imagine that on an airplane. And I'm not talking about the on-boards speakers, but actual headphones. The speakers generate A LOT of noise, even when the headphones are plugged in...very strange. I can't believe the Toshiba engineers did not think of disengaging the speakers when phones are attached. Also, the center sounds were not centered accurately, but over all the sounds tended to be left-channel-heavy.
So, I have decided to return this and buy a Panasonic DVD-LA95 model. At least the form factor of the Panasonic looks better.
