Pros
Image quality is terrific and screen size is perfect for an individual viewer.
Cons
Battery life could be longer, internal speakers are weak.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
Recommended. This unit is a good compromise of weight picture size and battery life. A great unit for an individual using a good pair of earphones.
For me, any portable AV/computer device is a study in compromise. Larger screen, poorer battery life; bigger battery, more weight, and so on... This DVD player doesn't have the largest screen out there and may not be the best choice for a couple of kids in the back seat of a car, but for an individual, I find it to be a good compromise of weight, screen size and feature set. I purchased this unit to be a commuting companion and for my frequent airline trips. The picture quality is very good: bright and sharp with little or no light "fall off" at the edges of the screen. If this unit were to be used with the internal speakers, I could not recommend it. The sound is too low level even at the highest volume, and the speakers are very tinny sounding. However, when coupled with the Etymotic ER-4 earphones which completely block out train and plane noise, the sound is superb. In terms of features, the unit comes with a remote control, which seems redundant when the unit is sitting on your lap. Unfortunately, the full feature set is only available using the remote and from time to time you may find yourself scrambling to find it. I had one "stuck pixel" on the LCD and decided not to fuss about it as it was in an unobtrusive spot.
