Toshiba SD-P2500 8.9 in. Portable DVD Player

I recently purchased this portable DVD player with a few upcoming trips in mind this year. I have yet to take it on a plane, so I can not comment on the in-flight use, other than to say it's size is rather large, but manageable.
The picture quality is amazing, I looked at the smaller 7" models from Toshiba, they seemed to be much too small to really enjoy a movie, The SDP2500's screen is slightly larger at 8.9", it really makes a difference. The sound quality is great without the headphones, I bought Sony noise canceling headphones for use in-flight, no comment yet on their effectiveness in conjunction with this player. One nice feature of this player is the dual headphone outlets allowing you to share the movie with someone sitting next to you. The battery is a little strange, a box under the player that isn't the full dimension of the player, so it sits at an angle, not a problem, just odd. Given the weight of the battery, maybe it is a good thing that it is small. When closed, I wish there was a lever or something to unlatch it from the closed position, instead you just pry the thing open.

I went to BestBuy to look at it, they were sold out however, so I checked Amazon. It was priced less than BestBuy but more than the cost advertised by vendors on this site. I was a little wary of ordering from a company I didn't know, so I got it at Amazon. Overall pleased with this purchase. The design is stylish and pleasing to use. Will update after a couple of trans-oceanic flights.
