Toshiba TW65H80 TV

I've been shopping around for a widescreen hdtv for a month and finally decided on the toshiba 65H81. at first i was going to buy the sony 65xbr10w since sony had a 500 dollar rebate promotion. anyway, i went to this upscale home theatre store and wanted to see the sony tv for myself. the sony was placed next to a mitsubishi 65908 and then the pioneer elite 710 next to the mitsubishi. all 3 tvs had hd broadcast which i believe was the discovery channel. well, i have owned 3 tvs and all were sony and i had high expectations from the 65xbr. seeing the sony next to the other tvs put the sony to shame. then i asked the sales person to maybe adjust it since the picture was not up to par with the other 2 tvs. he did but still not even close in comparison. i decided that i would go to another store and see the same sony there. it was the same story. anyway while at the store i stumbled on the toshiba and was pretty impressed with the picture on the screen. then i saw the price and i was really amazed. i already had made up my mind to get the mitsubishi after the sony didn't meet my expectations but seeing the toshiba changed my mind. i went back to the upscale store to look at the mitsubishi one more time after just seeing the toshiba. the mitsubishi still looked a little sharper but not too much and i think maybe the lighthing (which was off) at the high end tvs area had something to do with the mitsubishi looking better.with a $1500 difference between the toshiba and the mitsubishi i went with the 65h81. i have had my tv for a week now and i love it! it has tons of features of which my favorite one is the ALS automatic light sensor.this feature automatically adjust the contrast according to the brightness of the room. what i didn't like was the icons for the menu. too small for me and i didn't like the how it was drawn. these are really not a big deal though. this tv outshines all others in its price range and even above.
