I can not recommend this product. I wish that I had read the reviews prior to purchase, but it had a fairly low selling price.
I am looking for something that has more capacity than my current external hard drive, but this product is not it. Though it was fairly easy to set up, unless it was coninuously accessed, it would shut down after just a few minutes and the hard drive's power on light would go out. The hard drive was no longer visable to the PC and could not be accessed. Pressing the power switch twice, ( once to turn the unit completely off, and again to turn it back on would restore it to use. You would then have to wait a moment however, to allow the computer to scan for the drive and to allow the provided backup software to reload.
Additionally, when I tried to look for assistance on the Toshiba website, I was directed the Toshiba Acclaim website. There I found no help. Instead I was given a toll free number to call. I called that number and the person answering was unable to help me because the item I called about was not a laptop. Appearently, the toll free number is only for the laptops. When the support person gave me a toll number to call, I pointed out that the website gave me a toll free number for tech support for this product and requested to speak with the supervisor in charge. When I was told that person was not available, I hung up. I will be returning this product to the store from which it was purchased.
