A good VCR, in today's fast world.

Pros Good Viewing Quality, Good Recording Quality, 4-head, Hi-Fi.
Cons No A/V inputs or outputs.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Buy this unit for VHS viewing and taping of shows and movies.
In today's fast world of moving all formats from tape to disc, it is still complicated to record your favorite shows, or movies from normal tv. Sure, you can go buy an expensive hard drive tv recorder like Tivo, or other hard disk recorders. However, most of those systems have a certain disk space, and after you take that space up, what then? I assume you must delete certain shows, to provide room for other shows. However, in a VCR, you just buy more tapes. This is mainly what I was considering when looking for a VCR. I knew my main objective was to tape movies from cable television and to watch some VHS films as well. When I looked at the VCR+ option, I decided that I can manually put in the channels, times and dates and save myself approximately 40 bucks.

Overall, this machine works very well. It records movies in Hi-Fi sound quality, and also has the advantage of having 4 heads. It also has very good playback quality, showing VHS movies in good quality.

My only con was the no A/V inputs or outputs. When you open the box, the back of the unit contains the power cable, and a cable input and cable output. You plug in the power, plug in the cable wire and use the output to your tv. So the only sound quality is what comes through the normal cable wire.

Another excellent feature is the "auto-clock set". When you first plug the unit in, you will see flashing words "auto", don't panic, this is simply the machine finding out the time that it is at the cable company! So you never have to worry about missing movies, unless you input the movie record data incorrectly.

So overall, I would recommend this VCR unit to anybody that wants to watch some VHS movies and will be interested in doing some movie or tv show recording as well.
