The Bottom Line:
One of a number of good VCR's for about $100. Has 6 heads. 6 is bigger than 4.
I bought this to replace a dying Mitsubishi VCR that I have had for 7 years. As you know, VCR's are now a dime a dozen. The 6 head Toshibas used to cost 400 bucks. Now they cost $99 at BJ's club (similar to Sam's club).
I liked the Mitsu model because I could program it to record directly from the unit and never had to turn on the TV. Unfortunately, very few models do that now. I decided to go cheap and bought this one.
It does what a VCR is supposed to do. Record and play tapes. The picture is fine. The sound it fine. I keep telling myself that it cost $99. With the extra money that I would have spent on a high end VCR I bought a DVD player and some DVD's.
It pains me to "go cheap" like this. I'm a guy who loves bells and whistles. But this price was to good to pass up. And I didn't have to go to one of those mega stores (Best Buy or Circuit City) and deal with the traffic, etc. BJ's is close by and convenient.
