The Bottom Line:
Easy to install, reliable. A must for home networs using hard wired statiobs.
I was in the need for an Ethernet Switch. We have 4 computers, 2 of which were running wireless. I wanted to connect my wife's computer to the network via hardwire, and I wanted to connect my spare machine also.
A friend told me about this switch. It was available for $10. Would it solve my problems. The answer was a definite YES!
I bought it and installed it. Installation is easy. Plug the AC adapter in and connect your router to any one of the jacks in back, and then connect your computers to any of the other jacks. Naturally, you need a standard CAT5 cable running from your computer's network card to the switch.
The switch handles all computers nicely with no loss of data speed.
There are no drivers required, as this switch runs independent of computers or routers. It is a stand-alone device that is driven by its own internal firmware.
This is a very small device, but very vital to any home network. Our slow 802.11 B router is not fast enough, so we needed to hardwire our wireless computers.
This is a 10/100 switch, which means it is not compatible with the new 10/1000 network hardware.
