The Bottom Line:
Very good inexpensive KVM switch
I have had this KVM switch for a little over a year now, with very little problems. The switch itself is light weight and easy to install into a rack cabinet. If you are installing into a dell cabinet you need extra hardware because of the odd bolt size, which can be a problem. Because the unit is only half deep, it can actually be a bit difficult to plug in the devices you need from the back of the unit. This is only a problem if the switch is mounted between to full depth devices.
The switch has been solid, with the exception of one error. If you have any type of power surge (even on a ups device) sometimes the mouse stops working. In this event, you cannot simply unplug it and plug it back in. You actually have to disconnect all of the devices on the unit (or power them down) and then unplug the unit. Anyone in a server farm knows how much of a pain this can be, however it has only happened two times, and having a better ups to plug it into will help.
One positive note about this unit is that the video stays active on each device regardless of if it is switched or not. I have used other KVM switches that if you switch back to another machine after a long time, the monitor will not awaken from sleep mode and you must reboot the machine.
