The Bottom Line:
Scared of successes like SuperMac, Apple Computer killed their Clone experiment. I can't imagine a world with only one brand of Car, OR Computer. Apple "Thinks Different" on that note.
Runs very smoothly and quickly. There is plenty of expansion with 6 True PCI slots which can support fast A/V type cards in any slot. This is reportedly unlike the Apple 9600 it was semi-cloned from that has a PCI Bridge for the lower 3 slots.
Slot 1 also has an extended connector to accept the E100 10/100 Ethernet / Ultra SCSI card.
There are Two Processor slots for MultiProcessing, two 5.25" , and two 3.5" drive bays that open to the front, and the 3.5" Floppy drive below. Built-In Internal & External SCSI, dual ADB, Modem & Printer Serial Ports mean one only needs a cheap combo USB/FireWire card to support just about every Input Output device ever made for Macintosh.
Finally the S900 is very HotRodable via it's commonly used at the time Card Processor slots with either faster 604, dual 604, G3, or G4 upgrades.
