I bought this product to have a good third radar detector in my station car, and to take on trips - it's supposed to be good and small. My 911 has built in K40's with lights built into the dash and my wife's car has a very good Passport 4500 which I wired into the visor power. I thought if the Uniden was good enough, I would make the Passport the station car detector.
I bought the LRD757 yesterday and today had a 220 round trip business trip to do. I decided to put the Uniden next to the Passport, which I am very familar with, to get used to it and to play with it. Well, I won't go into the false alarms, etc, etc. The important thing is, I ran into one police radar 216 miles into my trip on the very road I take to the train, where the radar cop always hides in the volunteer fire department. The Passport, as is typical, went wild. The Uniden didn't utter a peep. I went home, got the box and receipt and returned the unit to Circuit City. I owned it for 22 hours. I'm officially off Uniden forever - a radar detector that works this badly, even if only once, can result in thousands of dollars of insurance premiums. I wonder if I can get a Valentine One for less than $400?
