GOOD unit for the money!

Pros EXCELLENT warning time! Compass works VERY well!
Cons NO VISOR MOUNT!!
Recommended it? Yes
I have to admit, the reason I bought the LRD767 was the built in compass. I really liked that feature. Wasn't sure how well it would work..but I figured what the hell! So I bought it. It only took a few minutes to set the compass, which by the way, if you move the position of the radar detector you need to reset the compass. As it turns out the compass is dead accurate! I have owned this unit for a few months now and in that time have driven between Ft. Lauderdale Florida and Toronto Canada twice and throughout the state of Florida on SEVERAL occasions. I have to say this unit works VERY well. It does false a bit in the city but nothing major. It's no worse than the 2 Bells, the Escort, and the 2 Whistlers I have used in the past few years. I also have to say the performance is excellent. I have on occasion picked up radar for over 1.5 miles (K band). Ka reception is exceptional...better than any unit I have ever used before. As a matter of fact, I was using a Whistler 1660 beside the LRD767 just in case it wasn't the greatest unit. The Whistler is now sitting in my glove box and it won't be coming out any time soon!! Surprisingly I haven't encountered any laser yet so I can't tell ya much about that. BUT as soon as I do I'll let y'all know the results. This LRD767 has saved me from at least 3 tickets. One on the highway and 2 in Coral Springs, just outside of Ft. Lauderdale. They LOVE to use motorcycles hidden behind trees with Ka band instant on!! The LRD767 beeps Ka on and off for about a mile or so. You learn when to slow down, and with this unit you have time. I am very impressed! Uniden has come a long way with this product and I highly recommend it. I read in one of the epinions that someone said the display was unreadable in the daylight. That's a crock! I live in South Florida and it's BRIGHT here more often than it is in the rest of the country and I have no problem seeing the display. As a matter of fact the ONLY con I could find was the lack of a visor mount!!!!! So....I MADE MY OWN!!! I hate windshield mounts with a passion, but that's just me!!. I hope anyone who reads this and buys one for themselves writes a review for it too. This is a great product for someone who doesn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a unit but wants ample warning and lots of features. For $140.00 you get a GOOD unit for the money.
