Looks like a Stealth......Does it Act like A Stealth

Recommended it?
No
The Bottom Line:
A budget detector for the budget minded consumer. This is an entry level detector, which provide fair detection on Conventional radar.
Uniden has been in the mix of detectors since the early '80s. With only two bands allocated for detectors to search, Uniden made more than Adaquate detectors. The RD-9 Detector provided in the '80s second to top rate detection.
If you had followed their products, Uniden is a of the companies that has in the past mid-80s to early 90s, provide Radio Shack with detectors called Road Patrols/Micronta. Can they provide a top rate detector today? Well.........
Located in Fort Worth, TX; too make Scanners "BearCat" and the some Radio Shack "Pro Series" with very good quality. Uniden at the early 90s had provide a unit LRD-2000 unit that picked up the Photo Radars operated at 34.7GHz second rate to the Valentine, in the Australian market. The unit though was plaque with falsing from other radar detectors, Cell phones, and was easily picked out by Vg-2.
The industry of detectors, Uniden has provided the public with low priced units compared to a Bel, Escort, Whistler, and Valentine. The low cost units gave strong detector for the price but suffered in falsing.
Today, Uniden has the 700 series. The top units, LRD-777 with Voice and the LRD-767, still fall in the low cost units. These units provide Vg-2 undetectable, Vg-2 unit detection, Compass, and Voice only on the 777 unit. Uniden advertises these unit to detector Radar and Laser 360 degrees.
The Detector:
The unit comes with a curly power cord, instructions, windshield mount, and the detector. The unit a design as a futuristic Stealth bomber of today. The unit is lightly constructed and feels a little cheap (Cobra 9200 felt worst.) The 767 is 4.5"L x 2.9"W x 1.4"H. A Reddish-Orange
Texted display is provided on this unit for radar/laser and SWS (Safety Warning Systems) info.
Pros: Not too many here.
-The unit has a texted display compared to unit $30-40 more. The is Clear and Legible.
-The 767 provides memory retention.
Cons:
-The Windshield mount is sloppy. The mount is very lose; it flops on the windshield up/down and left/right.
-The Display is at day is on the Dim side, but at night it is not dim Enough!
-The display has too much info in standby. Especially at night.
-The startup mode is way to long. Compass-X-K-Ka-Laser-Ultralyte-Safety-Vg-2; which takes 10 sec to startup.
-Compass is inaccurate if place near top (4") of Windshield-Best location for radar detection.
Detection/Falsing:
X band- expected straight 1 mile+
K Band- 0.7-1.1 miles Straight
Ka Band- 0.8 miles (34.7GHz) Straight
The K band 0.7 and Ka band 0.8 was detected when approaching over a hill. For rear detection, do not expect much. The unit is POOR for rear. Laser, Uniden has done well for frontal attacks, but rear, GOOD LUCK.
In the City, expect X band to drive you crazy in highway mode like all other detectors in this mode. City can help quiet the detector. No band defeat like the Escort 8500, Bel 970/980 , and the Valentine.
Conclusion:
The Uniden 767 is a fair detector. Compared to the earlier units, it does not set-off others detectors as easily nor does it pickup cell phones. This unit is for HIGHWAY use. This is for a budget minded consumer, looking for a cheap way out. With the newer 35.5GHz low power guns, do not expect much in corners or if the officer is shooting you as you pass-by.
