The Bottom Line:
It's an excellent product and a wonderful idea. If you must have a larger remote, by all means, check this one out!
It happened like this: My middle daughter and I were walking through Books-A-Million the other night, and she was looking for something to spend her birthday money on. She wanted a Junie B. Jones journal, but then she spotted this huge remote control.
At first I thought it had to be some sort of gag gift. I mean, seriously, who MAKES a remote that big?
Evidently someone who must hate tiny remote buttons as much as I do.
Anyway, this particular selection of remotes came in several colors or in camouflage, and my daughter LOVES camo stuff, so she said she had to have it.
The only bad things about it were the price ($14.95) and that it didn't include the two AA batteries.
But, when my daughter wants something, she gets it!
And she got it that night.
I helped her program the remote for her television (a 20-year-old GE that didn't come with one). It was quite easy. Hold down the Set button, press the TV button, enter the code. Voila! It's done. We repeated the process for her VCR, and it, too, worked quite well.
Operation is easy, too. Heck, it ought to be, with such large buttons! It works about like any other universal remote, just easier, again because of the buttons.
The remote is a bit heavy, but no heavier than a couple of VHS tapes. I don't like the weight, but that's really all I don't like.
This remote would be a smart buy for a person with poor eyesight, those who are disabled, the elderly, or children. Kids really seem to like it, based on our experience.
Give it a try!
