Valentine One: A breakthrough in radar protection
Pros
Bogey counter, bogey direction
Cons
False alerts
Recommended it?
Yes
Apparently Epinions made a category for this epinion so I moved my previous one on the Valentine. I'll be deleting the other one shortly. Thanks!
I'm not one to speed constantly from place to place but occasionally I find myself using a heavy foot. I don't mean to do it but it just happens. Every driver out there knows how it is. I was tired of getting pulled over and having to tell police officers the same old excuses they hear every day so I read some epinions on radar detectors and I decided that although the price was rather high that I would go with the top of the line Valentine One radar detector. So far I have been high impressed with this product and I have had no problems with it yet. It is truly top of the line and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to buy a radar detector.
The truly number one part of this detector is the "bogey counter" and the "radar locator." The "bogey counter" is a unique feature found only on this detector, that counts the number of radars that are trying to capture you at the same time. You never know there may be more than one more than you think. It tells you on a digital screen how many there are and it is very easy to read. The other great feature is the "radar locator." Also found on no other radar detector, this feature points to the direction the radar is coming from by using four arrows that point either in front, in back , or to the sides.
Another great feature found only on this radar detector is that of two radar antennas. Other radar detectors claim to use total 360 degree protection but they don't. I've known people who own plain radar detectors that claim to use 360 degree that have been given tickets from behind. Most of the time you will get stopped by policemen when they are heading in your direction and they will turn around. But I've seen several instances when Highway Patrol travel freeways at 80 or 90 mph hoping to catch people from behind. With this radar detector there is no worry of this because what it claims to be true 360 degree protection really is true 360 degree protection. It should be because there are two antennas: one in the front of the detector looking out the front windshield and another in the back of the detector looking through the back windshield.
This detector is also very convenient and features a wonderful layout. Unlike other radar detectors that have one button for on/off, another for volume, and several more annoying buttons, the Valentine One features one button for all of these features. It has one on/off switch which is also the volume control. On this knob there is also a convenient Mute feature. Say your driving down the road with a co-worker who with you are heavily involved in conversation and you are driving the speed limit but your radar detector is still on and you are interrupted by a beeping in the middle of your conversation. Simply tap the mute button and continue on with your conversation without being bothered. It also features an ID light which identifies the band of radar. Whether it be K, Ka, or X band the Valentine One always knows what to display. I have had several falses with this radar detector but wouldn't you rather have a detector that picked up nearly everything than a detector that picks up hardly anything? That's what I thought.
Recent tests from Car and Driver magazine pick the Valentine One over any other radar detector on the market by drastic measures. In 1997, with a top score of 100, the Valentine One put up a score of 97 with the runner up being Bel with a total of 54 points. The Valentine One totally blew away the competition. Or wait...there is no competition. If you are looking for a radar detector for your vehicle then there should be no controversy on which one to buy. The obvious choice should be a Valentine One.
I can't delete the other one!!! Somebody help me. I've went to Edit my profile" and delete and epinions just refuses to delete the previous epinion on the topic. Drop a comment teling me how!
