Nice For the Price
Pros
Sounds good, plays all my DVDs plus CDR & DVDRs.
Cons
no remote, possibly lower screen resolution than more expensive models.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
You could shell out $50 more for a model that would probably work the same, why not just get the cheaper one?
I was stuggling with a Coby portable DVD player up until two months ago, when it stopped working for the umteenth time and stayed stopped. After shopping around and being frustrated by the prices and paranoid of durability, I just happened to notice the Venturer on sale. I was told they're okay players, but that their sound quality was probably the worst of the portable DVD players. I thought for the price, I'll take my chances.
I've had it for a little over two weeks now, and have used it probably more than ten times between me and my daughter. It's reliable, it's never given me problems, and frankly, the sound is like any other portable DVD player.
The screen isn't very big (6.2") and the resolution seems like it's a tad lower than some other DVD players, but it doesn't matter much to me, I can still enjoy watching it, and don't even notice the change from our 7" Coby screen.
I wouldn't have minded seeing a remote or an external battery (if it stops holding charge, I'd have to just buy a whole new player), or RCA cables included for tv hookup. It does, however, come with a regular power cord plus one for the car. Really, I'm just very happy having a DVD player that works for me consistantly.
