Yes
The Bottom Line:
LG enV2 is a very good cell phone for the money
LG Electronics manufactures (or places its name on) dozens of different products from washing machines to television sets. However, the company is still best- known for its cell phones and one we have been using in my family for more than a year is the LG EnV2 Cell Phone, a cell phone with most of the qualities of a smartphone and sold at a lower price.
Cell Phone Facts and Figures:
LG EnV2 Cell Phone is a medium- size cell phone. This phone offers a clamshell style that opens up completely, to a 180 degree angle, revealing a full QWERTY keyboard on the inside. The outside of the phone has a standard push- button design with no touchscreen. The outside of the phone has a small screen while the inside of the phone has a larger, 2.4 inch viewing screen.
The LG EnV2 Cell Phone has many of the features one would expect in a cell phone, including GPS ready, Bluetooth and USB compatibility. A 2.0 megapixel, built- in digital camera with 10x digital zoom exists to capture important moments and a video recorder exists to capture live action. An MP3 player, WMA player, and voice recorder round out the media options.
Moving to other features, the LG EnV2 Cell Phone offers 63 MB of installed memory, 5.3 hours of talk time, 520 hours of standby time, and microsd memory card expansion. The address book can hold up to 1,000 contacts for easy reference, sorted by name or phone number. Voice recognition technology and text to speech technology make it easy to read and send messages or to access the different features hands- free.
Physically, the LG EnV2 Cell Phone is medium in size. It measures about four inches in length, 2.1 inches in width, and 0.65 inches in thickness. The phone comes complete with a rechargeable battery, charger, user guide, and quick start guide.
Final Thoughts:
The LG EnV2 Cell Phone is a nice electronic device from LG Electronics and it is one of two LG cell phones currently in use within my household. This cell phone is an updated version of the LG EnV, first made popular a few years ago. The LG EnV2 Cell Phone is slightly smaller and sleeker than its predecessor, with more advanced features and larger keys on the front of the cell phone, for easier and more convenient calling.
I have been a Verizon customer for quite some time and this LG EnV2 Cell Phone is one of several LG cell phones offered through Verizon communications. When looking for new cell phones when our previous contract ran out, my wife and I agreed that we wanted cell phone with QWERTY keyboards, due to our tendency to send text messages (the inbox can hold up to 300 text messages), both to each other and to friends and other family. This phone offers the QWERTY keyboard plus many other features and it easily beat the other phones- in similar price range- available at the time.
Among the many positive features of the LG EnV2 Cell Phone, I like the dozens of features and options available within. Open up the clamshell and take a look inside and you will find just about every feature imaginable. Not only do you get the usual features like calendar, alarm clock, address book, web browser, etc., you also get extra features within each that are often not offered on other cell phones. One good example is the address book. Not only can you store contacts and phone numbers, the LG EnV2 Cell Phone also allows you to store up to five entries per contact, along with a picture id for each.
For those willing to spend a little extra money, Verizon offers its Vcast feature with this cell phone. This feature allows you to instantly download music to your phone and/or to purchase songs online and then send the files to your phone. The Vcast Music option offers more than two million songs from which to choose. While you're at it, you may also want to try out the Vcast video service. This service allows users to stream or download video clips from the internet directly to your phone, for some quick entertainment.
Sound quality is very good with the LG EnV2 Cell Phone. The speakerphone, in particular, is excellent. You just press the speaker option, place the phone on a table or other flat surface, and talk back and forth with the other party. Both sides can easily hear the other and it is surprising how loud and clear the sound actually is. I have had many other cell phones with speaker phones that I invariably didn't use because either I couldn't hear them or they couldn't hear me. This problem is eliminated completely with the LG EnV2 Cell Phone.
With so many good things to offer, one has to search long and hard for something to complain about with this cell phone. There are, I admit, a few shortfalls with this phone and depending on individual needs, these issues may be enough to forgo a purchase. First, as anyone who has used this phone will attest, the LG EnV2 Cell Phone has a very small outer screen. Many people will have a difficult time reading letters and symbols in such a tiny space and while I still don't prefer the small screen, I have grown to accept it and I now realize it isn't as bad as it first seems. The reason is because once you have owned this phone for a while, you realize that you don't really use the front screen except to see the time, date, who just called, etc. When you really want to use the phone and its many features, you will open up the clamshell and use the large, inside display screen instead. Another potential annoyance is that this cell phone is a little thicker than other cell phones, when folded shut. This makes it somewhat uncomfortable when placed in your pocket. However, it is actually thinner and shorter than the original LG EnV, so this is only a small complaint.
Of all of the small flaws with the LG EnV2 Cell Phone, the one that bothers me most is the built in digital camera. The camera has only two megapixels, so one cannot expect great photos. Still, I expect better pics than what I get. The details of pictures taken with this cell phone are not very good and the items in the pictures often lack sharp, defined corners and edges. The video capabilities are not the best either. They are often a little fuzzy and the sound is a little too crackly.
Going back to the good points, the LG EnV2 Cell Phone is a nice choice if you hate having to remember to charge your phone. The rechargeable lithium battery lasts for days- I only need to charge the phone about every third day to keep it up and running like normal. I also like the internal menus and customization. I can make changes to wallpaper, change icons to tabs, etc., etc. It would be nice if the LG EnV2 Cell Phone was offered in more color options than just maroon or silver/black, but the number of personalization options available on the menu system easily makes up for this oversight.
Overall, the LG EnV2 Cell Phone is a very good cell phone that has held up well in the one+ year it has been part of my household. It offers many good reasons to like it and other than the camera and video quality (and a few other small points), this cell phone is a good one and it rates just as highly as many of the more expensive cell phones. It is an above average LG Electronics communication device and one worth considering (either LG EnV2 or the next generation of the EnV) for your next cell phone purchase.
