Wow! One of my best purchases in electronics...

Pros GREAT price, sleek design, easy to use
Cons None!
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Paging the electronically illiterate and/or the broke! This portable DVD player is for you!
I've never been good with electronics... I've never known exactly how to work a VCR, how to fix a TV when the screen goes blurry, and I'm a wreck when it comes to untangling wires and extension cords. So let me tell you right now that the only reason I happened to go to Best Buy one day was because my parents had a credit card there and we had made a deal that if I could find an inexpensive portable DVD player, they would buy it and I could pay them back with my future paychecks.

So here we are at Best Buy and I'm of course jumping out of my seat and giggling uncontrollably like I do when I get excited. Although I'm electronically illiterate, it doesn't mean that I haven't wanted a portable DVD player for years. And luckily, I have my dad living nearby who is at least somewhat smart about this kind of stuff.

I'm more than a little disappointed when we look at the portable DVD players and I'm seeing ones for $250, $300, $400! It's ridiculous to me because, after all, I just want a little old DVD player that I can plug in at night and watch my I Love Lucy Season 3 on!

Luckily, we found this great model with a decent-sized screen and an even more decent price... $120 for a brand new portable DVD player with a screen that didn't make me have to squint and a nice, sleek, silver design. Needless to say, that brand spankin' new DVD player was in my shopping cart faster than you could say, "It couldn't be that cheap!"

Fast forward through the check-out and the drive home, and I run up to my room faster than a speeding bullet, eager to see how this baby looks in my bedroom. It must be Heaven. The sleek design is gorgeous and smooth with a flashy silver color. I open up the player so I can see the screen and it actually looks (gasp) easy to use! For my electronically challenged buddies out there, I'm sure you know what a miracle this was for me.

I popped in The Nanny DVD and you wouldn't believe how simple it all was. No setup... no nothing. I press the open button on the side of the player, I wait for the DVD to load for maybe 30 seconds, and the menu pops up. I use the arrows and press "Play all episodes." No folks, it's not a dream. It's an easy-to-use portable DVD player. Take a moment to let it soak in.

I have to tell you that this DVD player was TRULY easy-to-use. It really does look great anywhere. And, after about 6 months of owning my precious Insignia, I can tell you that it works like a charm. It'd still look like it was brand new if the "A" sticker hadn't fallen off on the "INSIGNIA" logo. The price was fabulous as was the performance. It's everything that a regular old person is looking for in a portable DVD player. An electronic junkie isn't going to be too crazy about it, because, after all, it's just a basic portable DVD player. There aren't BUT... for those of us who just want to sit down after a hard day at work and not make our brains hurt more than they already do by trying to figure out a complicated machine, I would more than recommend this product. I'd gladly give my success story to Insignia anytime.
