Poor picture and no capability to use universal remote controls

I bought this HDTV based on my previous experience with Viewsonic computer monitors.
Setup was easy but picture quality was horrible. When the TV is turned off and then on again there was no signal thru the HDMI cable until it was unplugged and re-inserted. I contacted Viewsonic to obtain remote codes for my universal remote. They told me that there were no available codes for this TV for some BS reason.
Thank god I got this from COSTCO as it is going back as soon as my Sony HDTV arrives.
