Cons It can be a bit bright at times.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Fantastic price, excellent performance, and lots of new-found space on your desk! This is a top-quality product, I'd recommend it to anyone!
Let me start off by saying I love this monitor.

Pretty much since flatpanel monitors came out, I was looking to get one, but was always warded off by the high price. Then, when the prices started to come down, I was again chased by the poor response time, ghosting, and bad picture quality.

Well my wait is officially over. The Viewsonic VX924 was what I was looking for. A monitor that has excellent resolution, a super-fast response time, and a price that won't break the bank.

The response time
The response time is super-quick at about 3ms. To put this into perspective, most CRT monitors are less than 1ms, and your average, run-of-the mill flatscreen is about 16ms. What does this mean, you may ask? It's how fast your pixels can respond to movement on the screen. For casual use in a business environment, you really don't need a fast response rate. But, if you're doing anything with graphics, flash, and especially gaming, your response time is critical. If your pixels can't keep up with what's on the screen, then you will get a ghosting effect, where the pixels that are no longer showing the image haven't had time to "shut off" yet. The result is blurry afterimages that shouldn't be there anymore. With a 3ms response rate, I've noticed no ghosting whatsoever.

Color depth
I play some pretty complicated and graphics-intensive games, so the monitor I bought had to be capable of showing a broad range of colors in the spectrum. Thus far I've been able to look at my digital pictures with perfect color depth, as well as been able to play intense games without noticing any loss of color when compared to my CRT. In fact, I think the color has improved. The colors are much more vibrant and seem to come alive.

Resolution
Wow. Ever see a desktop at 1280x1024? It's a monster. I can see icons on my desktop that I never knew were there :)

With 1280x1024 as its native resolution, the only question that comes to mind is if your graphics card can handle the monitor's native settings. You should check it out before you buy it.

Brightness
Ok, this monitor is a little bright. At times it hurts my eyes. I've got it set on one of the lowest brightness settings, so it's bearable, but after an hour or so of looking at a white screen, things start to get blurry. Maybe it's because my eyes are very sensitive to light, but this monitor is pretty bright. But then again, with that brightness comes more colors!!

Cost
I practically stole this monitor for $269.00 at newegg.com. They have it advertised for $309, but they also offer a $40 rebate that makes the price of this monitor too good to resist. Buy.com also has it at a great price ($299 last time I checked). Don't go to a store like CompUSA or OfficeMax to buy this one, and don't trust their display version. I went to CompUSA to check it out before I bought it online and the colors and graphics looked terrible. This was due to the fact that they have old analog connections that do nothing to showcase the monitor's real capabilities. Also, to buy it in-store, the price is around $450. Yikes!

Overall opinion
Will you get off that fence already? Stop hovering between CRT and flatscreen. Take that old, clunky thing and toss it out the window. Even better, take it out to a field like they do in Office Space and beat the crap out of it. It's a thing of the past!

This monitor has everything you could possibly be looking for: excellent picture quality, high resolution, excellent price, fast response time, and a sleek appearance. It works fantastically for word processing, surfing the web, graphics work, and gaming. For $269, what are you doing still reading this review? Go out and get one!!
