Below average widescreen monitor.
Pros
Good horizontal viewing angles. Colors are good.
Cons
Bad vertical viewing angle. Too slow of response time for gaming.
Recommended it?
No
First of all, the vertical viewing angle is terrible. I first noticed this when I had a solid background color, but it looked like a color gradient going from top to bottom.
This is unacceptable for a Viewsonic product.
The response time is rated at 8 ms for average gray to gray transition. However, after playing some games I found it to be a bit blurry, because it's too slow. Same for scrolling text. it tends to blur with any scrolling. I tried the same test on a Dell LCD monitor at work, no blurriness for scrolling text.
So I am a bit disappointed with my first LCD monitor.
In addition, if it is connected via the analog vga connector, the screen at the top is flickery. It doesn't have this problem when connected with the digital connector, so either the supplied analog cord is junk, or the monitor has a faulty analog converter. Not sure if it is only my monitor or all monitors of this model.
The good:
My monitor had no dead/stuck on pixels. I was happy about that.
Colors are good, and the horizontal viewing angle is good as well.
