ViewSonic E90fb - ViewSonic does it bigger and better.

Big screen means happy people. Three birds on your monitor means quality inside (and out).
ViewSonic has an impressive array of CRT monitors, and the E-series delivers some very nice monitors. The ViewSonic E90fb is a very nice 19" monitor. This one is on another graduate student's desk now, but when I had it, I fell in love with it. It is takes up a lot of real desktop but it makes up for it by providing tons of virtual desktop space.
Setup and Installation: 10/10
It doesn't get any easier than this. Take your brand new ViewSonic E90fb out of the box, plug the power cord into the power strip, plug the monitor cable into your video card and you are set. The ViewSonic E90fb is packaged with software for color matching and driver files for Windows, but these are installed without a hitch. It should be noted that whoever is in charge of actually hefting the monitor on the desk needs to make sure he/she lifts with his/her legs, not the back! This monitor is huge and care needs to be taken while it is moved here and there.
Picture/Display Quality: 10/10
The ViewSonic E90fb shines in this category. It has a tiny 0.21mm horizontal dot pitch which really makes the images the monitor displays very crisp and brilliant. It also has a maximum resolution of 1600x1200. That's a lot of pixels! If you're going to be surfing the web, this resolution will cause eye strain to no end, but when working on big circuit layouts or a floorplan, that resolution makes use of every pixel. ViewSonic suggest 1280x1024 as the optimal resolution, and I agree. At this setting things look just fine.
This monitor would perform just as admirably as a graphic/web designer's display as much as it would perform for a technical drafter working with any CAD package where more space means an easier job. Video editing is a pleasure on this monitor due to it's lush color range and bright, true colors.
The ViewSonic E90fb also has ViewSonics PerfectFlat ? Screen. It's amazing the difference a flat-screen makes. I've noticed this ever since we've had a flat screen TV. Things just look better on a flat screen. No more bad viewing angles, image distortion or annoying reflections. The ViewSonic E90fb's flat screen is a godsend.

Like the ViewSonic A70 I reviewed before, the ViewSonic E90fb has all the bells and whistles of most ViewSonic monitors. The ViewSonic E90fb incorporates ViewSonic's SuperClear? technology delivers great image clarity and beautiful colors. The OnView? controls make adjusting the screen a snap via the four buttons below the screen. Adjustments can be made to all the normal things like Brightness, Contrast, Horizontal/Vertical size and position, Screen Geometry, and others. It allows adjustments to be made to the warmth of the colors displayed through the ViewMatch Color option. This makes matching colors to the real-life counterparts easy. The ViewSonic E90fb also has an anti-statc, anti-reflectiion screen which does a great job of displaying color and vivid images.
If you want the advantage of a flat screen that you would get from an LCD monitor but need a large monitor, the ViewSonic E90fb is a the best of both worlds. The flat screen is great and the size is just mammoth. An LCD monitor of the same dimensions would cost hundreds more than the ViewSonic E90fb. This is hands down the best monitor for these dimensions.
