ViewSonic G790 19 inch CRT Monitor

I used to own a KDS 17 inch monitor which lasted me 5 years, it was an all right monitor but it started having issues with the screen a while back. I am a gamer, website builder, photographer, and website surfer, so I was looking for a monitor that was bigger, better, and more reliable. I found out about the Viewsonic G-790 19 inch some time back and decided to buy it. Though this is not a new monitor anymore, it still performs in the business industry today.

I hooked up my new monitor and turned it on, the first thing I noticed was how much larger the screen was, WOW! It is a 18-inch viewable, that is 3 inches larger than my old 17 inch! I loaded up another review that I had written to look at the text on the monitor. I thought the text looked allot crisper and more focused than I had seen on my old monitor. Then I loaded up a high-resolution photograph of a lake that I took. The colors looked really bright, rich, clear and crisp! Way brighter than the old monitor and I was actually seeing more colors produced! Surfing the web could not be any easier because larger screen definitely helps cause you don't have to do as much scrolling as you have to with a smaller screen!

I run my monitor at 1024 * 768 at 85HZ and 32-bit color, optimal resolution 1280 * 1024. I loaded up the game Battle Field 2 and I noticed a big difference, the larger screen made it easier to see enemies who were flat on the ground or hiding in a bush or tree. The colors were great, textures looked great, and the text looked great at any given time displayed on the screen. I believe this monitor more accurately displays objects on the screen where my old monitor could not negotiate. Then I loaded up Doom3 and checked out its dark environments and interactive lighting. All I can say is amazing! This monitor produces the lighting effects incredible accurate for the game and I was not disappointed.

Now I want to cover the monitor's menu buttons. This is where this monitor is not as good as my old KDS. The KDS monitor was more user friendly with the menu control buttons. On this monitor, you have to use two different buttons to get through the menu, button 1 and button 2. My old monitor only needed one button to make selections. Once you select the option you want to change, you use the "up aero" and "down aero" to change its value. It took me a while to get used to it, but once you do, its a snitch. The monitor will remember your values even after a power outage so you don't have to worry about changing the values again!

This is a great monitor and with all the stuff I do on a computer, I really need it! Even though this monitor is not new, its still a leading leader in the business industry. Text and colors are bright, sharp, clear, and textures display properly. Surfing the web could not be easier with the 18-inch viewable screen. Games like BF2 definitely benefit from the use of this monitor and I was truly impressed how well the dark environments and interactive lighting are seen in Doom3! I think the menu system on this Viewsonic leaves some to be desired however, given enough time, I am sure you will get use to how it operates. The monitor will remember you values even after a power outage! This is a great monitor and it earns 5 stars from me!
