The Bottom Line:
Great for games, not so great if you write or use text-based applications.
I purchased this monitor recently as a replacement for a NEC 700 17" monitor (if you would like to read a review of the NEC 700, please refer to my Epinions on that model).
I think this monitor is essentially the same monitor as the Viewsonic PF790. According to the information on the Viewsonic website, both monitors have the same specifications, except the PF790 has passed all the regulatory and emissions type standards. That is not to say that the A 95f does not meet these standards, Viewsonic probably doesn't ensure the same manufacturing and emissions controls with the A 95f as with the PF 790.
When I first brought the monitor home, all the horrors that I experienced with the NEC came to mind. However, when I set the monitor up I was treated to very vibrant, bright colors. Much better than the NEC 700.
Due to the resolution differences on this monitor (.27 mm at the edges, and .25 mm in the center), text looks different on different parts of the screen. In the center it looks terrific. On the edges, it is blurry. Due to this, the monitor is great for playing games.
Unfortunately, this monitor is not the best for everyday tasks like email, or other text-related tasks where the text is at the edge of the screen. If you use a word processing package like MS Word, however, the text is in the middle and the blurring isn't noticeable.
Would I recommend this monitor? For home and gaming, absolutely! For work, no, I would recommend something where the text was clearer on the edges.
