The Bottom Line:
If you want a good sound and want to keep the cost under $100, this is definately a unit worth looking in to.
I bought this unit recently due to the self-destruction of the previous unit in my van. I was really impressed by the usb and sd ports while looking at the different models in the store. I ultimately chose this unit, and also picked up a GM wire harness to make the installation much easier on me. Once home, it took me maybe 15 minutes to rig the harness to the stereo's harness and mount the unit into the dash. I had a cd and a usb drive (I don't have any sd cards so I haven't tested that slot) in my pocket to run some post install tests. The cd played clear and clean, the usb port ran through all 7 songs I tested it with and there were no issues with the sound quality or the "chop" problem you sometimes have when using usb readers to play music. I was able to hook the dimmer control into my dash dimmer control, so when I turn down the dash lights, the stereo unit also dimms out. After reading the user's manual, I found I could disable the mildly annoying beep that occurred every time I pushed a button or changed the volume. I also set the cd player's ESP to the 45 second anti-skip (verses the preset 12 seconds) which means I should just about be able to drive down the side of the grand canyon and not hear a single skip. After a few more personal adjustments I was quite pleased with this unit and was having fun with the remote since having a remote for a stereo that's always in my reach just makes me laugh, although I suppose if I'm in the back of the van working on something the remote might be handy. Over all, I am glad i went with my choice of features over the subconsious need to pick only a unit from a big name brand (such as jvc, sony, kenwood, etc) manufacturer.
